FROGSKIN:
a literary(ish) journal

Writing and publishing books can take a long time, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start finding and sharing incredible short-form content and artwork right now! The whole point of All Hands Publishing is to build community between authors and their readers, and what better way to find new, cool communities than to get everyone in the same room?

While we continue to make books with the incredible writers participating in our annual Author Development Program, we are excited to do what we do best on a whole new level. Introducing FROGSKIN: a literary(ish) journal. Because not everything can (or should) be a book.

Submission Guidelines

We are looking for adventurous, messy creatives who are willing to put themselves out there, no matter what that looks like. If it means something to you—and we mean really means something—then that’s good enough for us.

• For short fiction or nonfiction, please keep it to under 2500 words.
• For poetry, the limit is 750 words.
• For artwork, please provide a high-resolution .svg image or transparent .png file of at least 300 dpi.
• For all entries, make sure to include a title, an author bio of up to 100 words, and a dedication (if you’d like). If you give us a pen name, we will use that in the published issue.

We absolutely will not publish anything written, edited, or otherwise created by generative AI. See our What We Publish page for more information.

The Review Process

Our goal is to publish as many cool, ridiculous, gorgeous things as possible. Our review process takes approximately 3-5 weeks after submissions close.

If your piece meets the journal’s guidelines, says something compelling about the issue theme, and makes one of our Crew go “Holy shit,” you will receive an email invitation to publish with us and participate in the editing process, which will take about 4-6 weeks total.

Rights

By submitting to FROGSKIN, you grant All Hands Publishing LLC an exclusive right to edit, publish, and distribute this content online and in print for one (1) year from the date of publication. This means you cannot submit this content to other publishers or self-publish this content during that time frame. After one (1) year, we will retain an indefinite non-exclusive right to edit, publish, and distribute this content, but you can also submit it to other publishers or self-publish and distribute it as you see fit. (Remember to check with any other publishers to see if they accept submissions that have a prior publication history.)

We agree not to meaningfully edit or substantially change your content in a way that will misrepresent you as the author; any meaningful or substantial change to your content will require your written consent prior to publication. If we accept your submission contingent upon edits that require your written consent, but do not hear from you within five (5) business days of sending you our edits, we reserve the right to rescind acceptance. If this occurs, you are welcome to resubmit during the next submission period, but future acceptance is not guaranteed.

At no point will FROGSKIN or All Hands Publishing LLC own your copyright or seek to sell exclusive or nonexclusive rights to third parties without your written consent. All legal responsibility for this content will reside with you as the copyright holder. To that end, you agree that your submission is your own creative work and does not knowingly infringe upon the intellectual properties of others, and does not have a prior publication history (apart from self-publication).
